DISEASE: Bacterial blast and black pit

The term "black pit" refers to black lesions on fruit, which may be specks or large, sunken pits as seen here. They also may be light tan, later becoming reddish brown to black.

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (bacterial leaf streak) causes water-soaked streaks with yellow ooze (left side), and X. oryzae pv. oryzae (bacterial blight) causes brown streaks that have turned white (right side).
